Thwaites urges teachers to dress appropriately

Education Minister, Ronald Thwaites, is urging teachers in the public school system to dress appropriately for school.

His calls follow criticism by the president of The Mico University College which was directed at teachers who do not dress or behave professionally in public schools.

A photograph has emerged on social media showing a Jamaican teacher in a classroom in very close-fitting attire.

Mr. Thwaites says teachers should be positive examples for children and conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with being examples. 

Meanwhile, he is also urging principals and other school administrators to ensure that acceptable dress codes are enforced in schools.

In 2011, the education ministry implemented a universal dress code to govern what teachers wear while they are on the job.
