The Political Ombudsman needs to swiftly intervene

The Public Services Commission had previously erred in the appointment of Rocky Meade to the position of Cabinet Secretary, forcing him to decline that position.

The prime minister was also embarrassingly forced to create a newly designated post called Ambassador Plenitopentenary with specific responsibility for advising him on issues of National Strategic Significance.

This shows that appointments by the Public Services Commission can be erroneously contrived. Couldn’t this recent appointment be one?

Civil society groups, well-thinking JLP supporters and not just the PNP are correct in demanding a refusal by Mr Chung to accept this post in a similar manner to what Mr Rocky Meade did.

Protests and counter protests should not be necessary in a possible violent Jamaican society, hence the Political Ombudsman needs to swiftly intervene as requested.
