DPP wants educators to help address issue of work ethics

Holding “working past 5 p.m.” as the gold standard for work ethic reflects an outdated or rigid understanding of work ethics especially in a modern context. Gen Z values work-life balance and fair treatment; something we can’t ignore without risking burnout. – @nstone2410

Edu-who? These jokes don’t write themselves! Let’s start with an ethical code of practice across all professions that requires re-certification every three years! – @kimstiff

Educators are called upon to do everything. Where are the parents? What are their responsibilities apart from procreating? – Taneisha Reboe

It’s not just about Gen Z – it’s about bridging the gap between modern work-life balance expectations and the evolving demands of the workplace, so students can value both productivity and personal well-being without losing sight of strong work ethics. – Jahein Black

It should start from the home. Parents should instil discipline in their children then, educators do their part. They should have programs that help the kids. Sending them to work places to get work experience before they graduate from schools. – Hilda Richardson

They are going to evening class or have to catch two or three vehicles to get home tired and may have to cook dinner. Not everyone has the means as you do and its OK. They are just acting their wage. In a time when countries are debating less work hours plus a 4 day work week you thinking persons should live at work to put money in others pockets while receiving crumbs and call that work ethic. – Kae Wato

Not until the home gets it right, the school is going to have challenge educating them. – Harold Barnaby

We’d soon be called to “raise the dead” yet when we require compensation for the many hats we wear “we siddung a school nah do nothing.” – Sukie Rowe

So there’s no ethics if you don’t work after 5 p.m? Efficiency is what we should thrive for. Truth is if we are equipped and utilise our time, all will be well. It cannot be a general expectation to work beyond 5 but if there’s a need etc. My grandma carried produce in basket on a kata or with a mule, should I also do same? Good work ethics is producing quality work effectively and efficiently. There must be work life balancing or we have not learnt or grown. – Nophia Morgan
