Statistics are meaningless
THE EDITOR, Madam:
A country can always boast of peace and Nobel prize winners. However, when souls are lost on a November 22 and an April 4, the significance of those lives declare outright war and anarchy. President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr, respectively.
Is it all “beautiful”? All lives matter and this is true even if “some are more equal than others”.
You can apply the 80/20 rule, and it appears reasonable. But no one wants 80 per cent of their hand nor grateful if only 20 per cent of fingers are left unsevered. Statistical reports mean nothing in the face of rabid hunger.
Projections are worthwhile. So, how many reprisals will arise from the wounds inflicted down the line? How will that tide be stemmed?
We cannot play with cancer. Though hard to face the terrible facts, raising riot and eradicating those threats to humanity is critical.
Heavy capital investment with long term plans to implement, needed technology is critical in all sectors. But are we just putting out fires without
building the dams to capture the heavy rainfall. Do we just pretend every year there will not be drought, hurricane or termites.
Getting old, strategies now for post-retirement, a possible 30 more years?
Moving along with a cane “fluffy diva”.
