Teen boy found dead at home in Lilliput, St James, suicide suspected
The police in St James are investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy who was found dead inside a bathroom at his home in Lilliput on Thursday.
Twain Skyers was reportedly found hanging from the shower with an electrical cord around his neck.
The discovery was made by his mother, who was searching for him.
The police say the matter is being treated as a case of suspected suicide.
It is being theorised that the matter is connected to the boy, who attended Hopewell High School in Hanover, being allegedly beaten by his mother for repeatedly coming home late from school.
According to reports, the teen boy arrived home after 6:00 p.m. yesterday despite repeated warnings from his mother about coming in late from school.
It is understood that she disciplined him on his return.
Later that evening, after failing to locate him around the house, the mother reportedly began searching the community and eventually returned home.
She reportedly found the bathroom door locked and, with the help of relatives, forced it open.
According to a police source, the boy was reportedly discovered hanging from the shower with an electrical cord around his neck.
Relatives rushed him to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The tragedy has left the community in disbelief, with residents expressing shock that a routine act of discipline may have preceded such a devastating outcome.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death are ongoing.
