72-year-old St James retiree charged with arson
A 72-year-old St James retiree was today charged with arson for allegedly setting a house on fire in his community of Hill View in Pitfour.
Junior Malcolm is charged with arson.
His court date is being finalised
According to reports from the Granville police, about 12:00 p.m., on Monday, October 13, residents saw Malcolm setting fire to a house.
Emergency responders, including the Jamaica Fire Brigade, were alerted, and the blaze was extinguished.
The second floor of the house was damaged.
The cost of the damage is estimated to be approximately $10,000,000.
Malcolm was arrested at the scene later that day, after he was pointed out to the police.
He was taken into custody, where he was formally charged on Wednesday, October 15, following an
interview in the presence of his lawyer.
