Man accused of murder remanded as bail application deferred to Gun Court
A bail application by a man accused of murder was not entertained in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday as the judge indicated that the issue is for the Corporate Area Gun Court.
Roddayne Allison, 35, who is charged with the murder of businessman Khalil Jerome Martin, was remanded to appear in the Gun Court on January 20, 2026.
Allison faces charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a scheduled offence.
He appeared before Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle, where his attorney, Kerry-Ann Wilson, indicated her intention to apply for bail on his behalf.
“The application will have to be made in the Gun Court, which has jurisdiction over these matters,” the judge ruled.
Allison was subsequently remanded, and a fingerprint order was also made.
According to police reports, Martin’s body was found on November 4 along Salt Pond Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, with a gunshot wound to the face.
Investigators said Martin had left his home earlier that day to meet with Allison, whom he had employed as a driver. When Martin failed to return, a missing person investigation was launched.
The probe later led to Allison’s arrest on November 30 during a covert operation in Clarendon.
Police allege that following his arrest, Allison gave a caution statement and was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session.
The case will now proceed in the Corporate Area Gun Court, where Allison is scheduled to reappear early next year.
