Detainee at May Pen police lock-up dies at hospital

An investigation is under way in the death of a detainee who was in custody at a police lock-up in Clarendon.

The deceased has been identified as Collintine Sutherland, 58, of Crofts Hill, in the parish.

Reports are that about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday Sutherland was at the May Pen police lockup when he complained of feeling ill.

He was assisted to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe in the matter.
