Seeking My Dream rules again
The reigning Horse of the Year, SEEKING MY DREAM, completed a hat-trick of wins at Caymanas Park yesterday, running on strongly a furlong out to win the 53rd staging of the Prime Minister's Stakes grade one feature over 2,000 metres.
The race was watched by a large holiday crowd, including Finance Minister Audley Shaw, who presented the Prime Minister's Trophy to his parliamentary colleague, Derrick Smith, owner of SEEKING MY DREAM.
Installed a howling 2-5 favourite, with four-time champion jockey Omar Walker riding for 15-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, SEEKING MY DREAM, who was never far off the pace under top weight of 57kg, went by the leaders LONG RUNNING TRAIN (7-2) and PERFECT NEIGHBOUR (5-2) in mid-stretch to beat the latter by 11/4 lengths in a field of six.
The 4-y-o chestnut colt by Seeking The Glory out of the 2008 Horse of the Year Alsafra duly completed a hat-trick following impressive wins in the Legal Light Trophy and Eros Trophy in recent months.
Apprentice Roshane Johnson notched the first win of his career aboard 4-5 favourite MR GRAND NATIONAL in the fourth race, the 21-y-o becoming the last of the 17 apprentices who graduated from the Jockeys' School last September to ride a winner.
