UNITED STATES-BRED SUPERNATURAL POWER yesterday chalked her fifth win from seven starts, easily tracking ridden-without-a-purpose MAMMA MIA, going by the native speedster while on the bridle entering the stretch run of the seven-furlong Thunderbird Trophy for open-allowance runners.

Twice beaten by another importee, INCREDIBLE JO, who hasn’t raced since ripping 1:23.4 for seven furlongs on May 24, three-year-old SUPERNATURAL POWER posted 1:25.0, handing leading rider Raddesh Roman his second winner of the afternoon, coasting home four and a quarter lengths clear as the 4-5 favourite ahead of outsped TIZ TOK.

Bred Cross Traffic-Urquia, SUPERNATURAL POWER is among the squadron of A. C. K Stables foreigners trained by Philip Feanny, debuting with a smashing 1:11.3 for six furlongs as a two-year-old last December, returning with 58.1 out the straight to start her three-year-old campaign in March before being stopped in her tracks, losing consecutive races to INCREDIBLE JO in May.

SUPERNATURAL POWER has now won three consecutive races since humbled by INCREDIBLE JO. She posted a fabulous 1:05.4 for five and a half furlongs last Sunday morning, preparing for the Thunderbird in which she used her speed to stalk MAMMA MIA before outclassing TIZ TOK closing from off the pace.

Roman had earlier won the second race astride 5-2 chance OIL MACHINE, showboating after chasing down TRAIN OF THOUGHT trying to steal home at odds of 5-1 with Dane Dawkins. However, the 2022 champion jockey had the last laugh, four winners on the 10-race card, which he opened with D’STORM and closed aboard MARK MY IDENTITY.

Dawkins also partnered two-year-old GOD’S PLAN at four furlongs straight in the third and PROPELLANT in the fifth, both for Gary Subratie, the day’s leading trainer.

Racing continues this afternoon with the Kenneth Mattis Memorial for overnight-allowance runners as the feature event at nine furlongs and 25 yards.
