PNP-media joint campaign

The Editor, Sir:

I notice that in recent weeks, various groups, including the People's National Party (PNP) and the media, have developed a 'moral compass', but I have to wonder if the compass points just one way, and that's towards the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

Allow me to paint a scenario. many of us know of an infamous central Jamaica 'don' associated with the PNP. Now, let's say the United States (US) had sent a request for his extradition with the same allegedly illegally obtained evidence and the Government refused to sign it, would we have heard anything from the media and the PNP?

Let's say the Government did in fact give the go-ahead and sign the extradition request for this said don, what would the reaction be?

Would the PNP cite this as a violation of the individual's constitutional rights and claim the evidence was illegally obtained and therefore, cannot be used?

Would they accuse the government of playing politics and selling out a citizen of Jamaica to please and forge closer ties to the US?

Would they demand resignations and walk out of Parliament if none was forthcoming?

Would they take to the streets in protest and issue warnings of civil unrest?

Would they take to the air waves to protest their point and have the media fully behind them?

Where would the moral compass of the media and the PNP shift were the above scenario the case?

I am, etc.,
