Security forces need our support
The Editor, Sir:
It is with great dismay that I have just listened to the journalists at Tuesday's press conference. I could not believe the accusatory tone of the questions directed at the security chiefs present, in light of the fact that we are currently at war.
These journalists and many others in the society seem oblivious to the fact that the only thing keeping these hardened criminals away from our doors are the security personnel. They seem to forget that security officers have also been killed and injured in this operation and that it was the criminals who went on the offensive on Sunday morning.
Many in our society need to leave the comfort of their homes and offices and go on an operation with the security forces one day so that they can understand that this is not child's play and the officers have to protect themselves, not behave like sitting ducks. If we can't fully support the security forces in a time as difficult as this, I don't know when we will all wake up and smell the coffee.
I am, etc.,
K. Henry
