Disgusted with Windies

Published:Friday | June 18, 2010 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM expressing my anguish and disgust over the careless, worthless and disappointing West Indies cricket team. We are tired (extremely tired, exhausted and fed up) of the embarrassment, the inconsistency, the bagful of insincere promises: 'We will do better next time, and blah, blah'.

We are overwhelmed with grief and sadness, and are intensely distressed and badly hurt by the 'worst' Indies and their same-old-same-old back-breaking story and heart-rending trend.

Here are a few suggestions on how the West Indies can, and could, win 90 per cent of their matches.

(a) Tell them that very soon they will be boycotted from the cricket arena, if they do not stop playing schoolboy cricket and get serious about the game. They will be replaced by younger players.

(b) Tell them no pay unless they win a match, or if they lose a match they will get only 25 per cent of their salary.

I think we would see a difference in the West Indies cricket team if we should put them under pressure and threaten them with the rod of correction. I don't mean violence.

I am, etc.,
