ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):

Three members of the West Indies 'A' Team that recently returned from trips to Bangladesh and England, have been selected in the Leeward Islands' 14-man squad for the inaugural Caribbean Twenty20 competition, starting later this month.

Fast bowlers Gavin Tonge and Lionel Baker, as well as leg-spinner Anthony Martin, will form the backbone of Leewards' attack.

Veteran all-rounder Wilden Cornwall will lead the side, while the remainder of the Leewards' squad have been chosen from the just-concluded inaugural Leewards T20 championships, which ended on Sunday in Antigua and Barbuda.

Former Windies all-rounder Omari Banks is another player with Test and limited overs experienced in the squad.

There are four newcomers to the Leewards squad, if not senior regional competition - fast-medium bowler Kelbert Walters, batsmen Kadeem Phillip and Jacques Taylor, as well as wicketkeeper/batsman Kerry Mentore - following encouraging performances in the domestic competition.

The Leewards squad will be encamped in Antigua, before they depart for Barbados next week for the opening match against Jamaica on July 22 at Kensington Oval.

Squad:

Wilden Cornwall (captain), Justin Athanaze, Lionel Baker, Omari Banks, Shane Jeffers, Javia Liburd, Steve Liburd, Anthony Martin, Kerry Mentore, Kadeem Phillip, Jacques Taylor, Kelbert Walters, Tonito Willett, Gavin Tonge.
