Veteran jockey Lynch banned
Jockey Clive Lynch has been suspended for one raceday by the stewards for careless riding aboard RESTLESS MARQUE in the third race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, October 9, resulting in the disqualification of his mount from first place.
Appearing before the stewards at the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday, Lynch was penalised for intimidation and interference caused to NEPTUNE in their stirring duel over the final 300 metres. Following a stewards' inquiry, RESTLESS MARQUE was disqualified and placed second and the race awarded to NEPTUNE. Lynch's suspension takes effect on Wednesday, November 3.
Also suspended was apprentice Cavel Brown, for careless riding aboard LA'S DANCER in the third race on Monday, October 18 (Heroes Day).
He was slapped with a four-day suspension for causing interference to FULL FARE approaching the 500-metre point, and also ORION, leaving that point of the course. His suspension will commence on Wednesday as well.
Explanation accepted
Jockey Dick Cardenas, who rode the favourite UNDAUNTED in the 10th race on October 18, had his explanation accepted for his failure to persevere with his mount in the final 100 metres. He was, however, cautioned for not reporting to the stewards on the day the problems he had encountered with the riding of his mount.
Apprentice Jevvanne Erwin, who rode STORM TRACKER in the fifth race on Saturday, October 23, was fined $2,000 for his failure to persevere with his mount in the final 100 metres.
