All stars for this summer's Osmosis staging - Biannual party attracts int'l and local celebrities
The Osmosis party brand has long been associated with opulence and grandeur, making for superior entertainment by any standard. So, it is no surprise that this summer's 'All-Star Edition' has attracted international and local celebrities to the event.
Chelsea Football Club striker Daniel Sturridge and Manchester United's Chris Smalling will be in attendance at the party series' 19th installment tomorrow, at Fort Charles, Port Royal.
Sturridge, who is also of Jamaican heritage, said that he made the trip to Jamaica just to attend the event and has even helped in its promotion by voicing a 15-second radio advertisement, telling the public to "be there or be square".
The party, since its inception 12 years ago, has enjoyed a good reputation among socialites and discerning partygoers because of its excellent décor, precise execution, and the all-inclusive bars and food court, the standard at each staging of the series.
Speaking of the event's favourable reputation, Osmosis co-director Philip 'PP' Palmer said, "It's really because of our attention to detail and we have particular areas that we are always noted for. We keep outdoing ourselves with our super-inclusive food offerings and, this year, we have 13 food stations. No other event has this offering."
He continued: "We're also noted for our venue and our vibe. We always look for the best deejays who are ever-present in the streets and on the airwaves and we tend to invite international deejays to play at each staging."
Attracting celebs
As such, it has garnered the interest of local celebrities and socialites and is a favourite among the event's loyal celebrity patrons such as Yendi Phillipps, Usain Bolt, Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall and Elephant Man.
This year's theme has also interested former West Indies cricket team captain Chris Gayle, who says he has, "never missed an Osmosis" and will also be in attendance this weekend with fellow West Indies cricketer and friend Wavell Hinds.
The stars will be catered to in fine style as they party the night away to exhilarating sets from ZJ Liquid, Coppershot and Renegade from Miami, while being provided with drink mixes courtesy of the world's number-one-selling spirit, Smirnoff Vodka.
"We think that any premium, classy event always pays attention to every single aspect of its execution. This includes the food," said Deane Shepherd, co-director of Osmosis. "We want to make sure that the food also fits with the Osmosis brand and that's why we go out of our way to recruit all these restaurants and come up with these fancy dishes."
