With few employment opportunities available for youth in Jamaica, 19-year-old Sashane Sterling is not one to sit idly by and has, instead, decided to join the Herbalife sales and promotion team as her way of becoming an entrepreneur.

While she has no intention of studying or practising medicine this University of Technology student expressed enthusiasm at being able to help persons lead healthy lifestyles while supporting her academic endeavours financially.

"I love that the products are natural, and it is not because I sell them why I endorse them the way that I do. As a young person, it is sometimes difficult to convince us about things, and I have tried it for myself and it has worked," Sterling said.

With this in mind, she decided to not only use the products, but to also sell and be part of the team that distributes the Herbalife products as she pursues a bachelor's degree in business administration.

The life of a student, Sterling admitted, can be hectic, especially when juggling an entrepreneurial venture with her studies, but this is something, she outlined, that is important in helping to understand professional ethics and time management.

"Sometimes we just have to take that leap of faith in building something and being a part of a team that wants the same thing that you do. It's hard to find a job, especially when you are a full-time student, so we just have to find ways to assist with tuition and be your best at it," she added.

"Herbalife is that, and it is helping persons to lead a healthy lifestyle, so I am pleased."

Her team, including her supervisor, is currently working on a project to start a club for their Herbalife products, which will be sold at discounted prices. Sterling has started a website as an independent distributor of Herbalife products at www.herbalifesashanesterling.webs.com and a Facebook page called Sashane's Herbal Distribution Services.
