Busta 4H Nyammins and Jammins pushed to Dec 15
MONTEGO BAY, St James:Organisers of the Busta 4H Nyammins and Jammins Food Festival have shifted the event to December 15 to coincide with the start of the winter tourist season and Christmas break for schools.
"The festival suffered over the last four years from the rains which the month of October usually brings. We cannot continue to put our patrons or concessionaires at risk. Also, our scholarship awardees depend heavily on the profitability of this festival to provide funds for them to further their education," chairman of the St James 4-H Advisory Council, Winston Ritchie, said.
"All proceeds from the event go to supporting training and development of some 6,000 clubbites across the parish, a goat-revolving programme, as well as the scholarship fund for needy but deserving clubbites."
all-inclusive party
Patrons will benefit from the event being extended over two days to include a 'Jamaica 4H Las Lick' all-inclusive party on the December 14. It will feature a variety of musical genres over the last 50 years of Jamaica's Independence as well as traditional Jamaican foods.
The 12-year-old Busta 4H Nyammins and Jammins Food Festival will remain at its home venue of the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex. It promises a rich mix of live entertainment, culinary competitions, demonstrations, sampling, a kid's village, and much more.
The festival has support from title sponsors Busta, which is in its third year, along with the Jamaica Tourist Board, Power 106, The Urban Development Corporation, Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, and Rainforest Seafoods. It is endorsed by the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association.
