Western Bureau:Flames FC joined Prospect Links atop the standing in the 2012-13 Trelawny Football Association (TFA) Monymusk Overproof Major League on Sunday when they clipped Invaders 2-1 in their much-anticipated showdown at the Elliston Wakeland Youth Centre in Falmouth.

Brad Johnson gave Flames an early 1-0 lead when he found the back of the net in the fifth minute. Things got better for Flames in the 31st minute when Navardo Williams scored to give them a 2-0 cushion.

However, on the stroke of half-time, the Invaders team, which is tied in third place with Spicy Hill SC and Classic SC - all on 19 points - got a breakthrough when midfielder Alex Dixon scored, ending the first stanza 2-1.

The second half produced exiting action but no further goals, which was enough to give Flames victory and the important three points, which took them, along with Prospect Links, on to 20 points.

Prospect Links blew a glorious chance to remain sole leaders the previous day when they lost to fourth-positioned Spicy Hill FC, which tagged them 2-1.

In fact, Jeff Bennett scored for Prospect Links in the third minute but subsequently buckled under sustained pressure exerted by Spicy Hill, which benefited from goals by Damin Williams, who scored in the 23rd and 43rd minutes to secure victory.

Kinloss FC lost to Coopers Pen 1-2, bringing them closer to relegation.

Scorers

Christopher Noble, who scored in the 45th minute, and André Palmer, who scored in the 75th minute, were on target for the Coopers Pen team. Warren Dixon got Kinloss' consolation goal in the 88th minute.

Elsewhere in the league, four different players were on target for Duanvale in their big 4-1 win over Jackson Town FC - the largest margin of victory of the round.

Ernesto Barrett, in the sixth minute; Orlando Gray, in the 26th minute; Floyd Parkinson, in the 35th minute; and Shane Weir, in the 88th were the goalscorers for Duanvale, which moved up the standings to join Clarks Town in seventh place on 17 points.
