Trial date set for St James man on theft charge
WESTERN BUREAU:
A St James man who allegedly stole items of clothing from a Montego Bay-based importer last month is to stand trial in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on May 28.
Everold Kerr of a Montego Bay address is charged with simple larceny, where it is alleged that on April 29, he stole a T-shirt and a tam from the Viking Productions importer. He pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court on Tuesday, and the details of the allegations were not outlined.
"Is the file (for the prosecution's case against Kerr) in a state of readiness?" Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tai asked Clerk of the Court Natalie Malcolm.
"Yes, Your Honour, and there are two witnesses (for the prosecution)," said Malcolm.
RM Tai set the case for trial on May 28 and ordered Kerr to surrender his fingerprints to the police.
"Mr Kerr, your fingerprints are going to be taken … . We are going to have a trial in this matter on May 28," the magistrate told Kerr.
