WESTERN BUREAU:Twenty-four-year-old Delovan Daley of New Market in St Elizabeth is no ordinary street vendor, but a rising entrepreneur in his own right.

Daley operates his business from his handcart at King Street in Montego Bay, from which he sells a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

"I have been selling for over three years. At times, it is not easy but I love to work hard, and I am determined to make an honest living for myself and my daughter, Malika, who is four years old. I will not sit back and wait for things to happen, I will go out there and earn my honest bread," Daley told Western Focus.

Daley says he places emphasis on cleanliness, which is of paramount importance in the food and beverage industry. According to him, not only does he ensure that his surroundings are always clean, but he also takes pride in his own personal appearance. In addition, he always makes certain his handcart is well stocked with a wide variety of items and that he is courteous towards the many customers he services.

Daley says that he plans to acquire a second handcart to sell even more products because his primary aim is to "please customers". He believes there is always work available for those who are goal oriented and hard-working.
