How long should we wait, NWC?
This is an open letter to Charles Buchanan of the National Water Commission (NWC).
We continue to experience poor delivery of water in our town. Since March 12, I have had no water in the pipe at my home. Households at the lower level are more fortunate, as they report they had a trickle of water on March 11, with some persons even able to get water in their tanks.
We have written previously about these challenges as far back as May 28, 2013, and Mr Gawaine Johnson addressed our citizens' association meeting some time last year (we meet on the second Monday of each month). We are given unsatisfactory answers such as Discovery Bay should only receive water three days per week! But we do not know which are those three days that we may schedule our laundry, etc., and in fact, up to the time of writing, it is now 11 days.
Some of our residents, who wish me to say that they will be refraining from paying their bills until they get water, are:
Margaret Bishop
Vincent & Adassa Brown
Herbert Butler
W. Charley-Sale
Joyce Dawson
Cleveland McTaggart
Michael Thomas
We wonder whether it would not be possible to inform us when there are problems with the pump, etc., so we have an idea how long we would be without water.
