Israeli PM to quit
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has announced his intention to resign, saying his family is being hurt by corruption allegations against him.
Mr. Olmert says he plans to step down within the next two months or as
as soon as his Kadima party chooses a new leader at its internal election on September 17.
The Israeli Prime Minister has reportedly been under pressure to resign over a police inquiry into money he received from a businessman.
The corruption inquiry centres around allegations that a United States citizen, Morris Talansky, made cash donations to Olmert in 2006 which may have subsequently been used to buy luxury items.
Olmert has already denied all wrongdoing.
The scandal is reportedly one of six corruption investigations the Israeli Prime Minister has faced during his time in office.
