England players to play in IPL

England’s cricket board has allowed its Test players a 21-day period to play in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).

England stars such as big hitters Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff were forbidden from playing in last year’s inaugural IPL 20/20 event because it breached the terms of their central contracts.

The terms of their new contracts with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), allows a 21-day spell between the end of the current tour of the West Indies and before the start of the next series against the same opponents in May.

The ECB has also given players who don’t have a central contract a 28-day period to play in the IPL, even though they will be late joining up with their County Championship teams.
