Former JLP chairman , Ryan Peralto, dies

Former Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Ryan Peralto has died.



Mr. Peralto died in hospital this morning.



JLP General Secretary Karl Samuda said Mr. Peralto began complaining of chest pains on Wednesday.



He said he was taken to the hospital where he was tested and put under observation.



Mr. Samuda said Mr. Peralto started having difficulties breathing shortly before 4a.m. this morning.



He said the doctors were unable to resuscitate him.



Mr. Peralto also served as a member of the Electoral Advisory Committee.



He was awarded the order of distinction commander class by the government for more than 20 years of service to the Committee.



He was also a former mayor of Kingston and St. Andrew and a former General Secretary of the JLP.



Mr. Samuda has expressed regret of Mr. Peralto’s death on the behalf of the party.
