Jamaica will be without a competitor in the final of the women’s long jump as Ackelia Smith failed to advance to the final after her best effort of 6.34 metres was not enough to make the top 12 in the field.

Smith endured a tough series of jumps in her qualifying group as she started with a jump of 6.34, far from her best this season.

Her second attempt was a foul, and needing a big improvement with her final attempt, Smith could only manage 6.28.

She finished 26th overall, and far from the mark of 6.60 which she would have needed to qualify.
