They are not innocent

Published:Monday | May 31, 2010 | 12:00 AM

The Editor, Sir:

I have noticed people referring to the 'innocent people' of Tivoli or west Kingston. There are no innocent people in Jamaica except for children.

The people in Tivoli and other garrisons are happy to get money from crime done by dons. Business people pay protection money to criminals; governments give dons contracts even when they bring in guns; politicians get help from dons and people vote for these same politicians. The police take bribes from criminals.

The few who are not involved are in danger of getting killed and keep quiet out of fear; they are guilty of silence. Your May 29 Letter of the Day urged people to pray for Bruce, but he chose to be part of Tivoli and he could have prevented this last set of madness, but chose to defend 'Dudus'. He is more guilty than most.

Pray for Jamaica that the Lord may raise up a new set of honourable leaders to take our country forward.

I am, etc.,
