Cops kill second South Side 'gangster' in a month
For the second time in less than a month, residents of South Side in central Kingston are livid over the fatal shooting of an alleged gangster by the police in the community.
Less than three weeks after police killed reputed gang leader 31-year-old Horace 'Pugu' Ramsay near Tower Street in South Side, lawmen fatally shot a second man they claim is a top-ranking gang member.
So far, he has been identified only as 'Nigger Charlie', and the lawmen said he was shot yesterday morning after he pointed a gun at members of a police party.
But the residents say Nigger Charlie was standing at the intersection of South Camp Road and Tower Street when he was accosted by four members of the police team.
"The man pull up him shirt and say, 'Officer, me clean', and them pull him inna the park and shot him," one irate resident told The Gleaner.
The residents also dismissed the claim by the police that Nigger Charlie had brandished a firearm.
But police sources say Nigger Charlie was the right-hand man of one of the most wanted gangsters in the South Side area, Marious Davis, better known as 'Bredda Bredda'.
According to the police, Bredda Bredda and Pugu - who they claim headed the New World Order gang - were involved in a bitter turf battle which resulted in several shootings in the area.
The police sources further claimed that Nigger Charlie was a gunman involved in a number of the shootings.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has already announced that it has launched a probe into the killing of Pugu. The residents of South Side want a similar investigation into the latest killing.
