The Editor, Sir: I wish to add my say! To that of others in giving praise and thanks to Rev Al Miller for his self-sacrificing, pastoral, Christlike deed in taking in Christopher 'Dudus' Coke safely.

The Editor, Sir: I have listened and read Reverend Al Miller stating that what he did "...is right ... and right is always right ..."

THE EDITOR, Sir: There is no real value in singling out individually or collectively government, Opposition or police personnel as many seem wont to do riding the back of the recent Tivoli incident...

The Editor, Sir: I never knew I would be writing so soon after my 1-888 NWC letter last week.

The recent furore by the Jamaica Manufacturers' Association, the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association and the general public about the increase requested by and given to the Jamaica Public Service by the Office of Utility Regulations should bring into sharp focus the need for an alternative and cheaper source of energy.

The points raised by Phillip Chambers in his Letter of the Day in The Gleaner of Friday June 25 need to be addressed. First of all, when he writes "the system of zoning pupils based on home address is sociologically and psychologically demeaning and must be scrapped immediately," he implies that we have a system of zoning in Jamaica at present.

Even though I don't agree with his alleged wrongdoings, the look on his face tells the world that he is happy to be in the hands of the Americans because he doesn't trust the Jamaican government.

The Editor, Sir: Jamaica has long been plagued by a disregard for the rule of law. There is a strong 'ends justifies the means' mentality that has pervaded our society for years. It is true that this may have been entrenched during our anti-slavery and later anti-colonial rebellions...

I believe the real victim of the extradition request and the process that ensued was our criminal justice system. It is a travesty that it took the United States, a foreign authority, to build a case against a Jamaican citizen, who had long been alleged by the police and citizens to be responsible for masterminding a transnational criminal enterprise.

The Editor, Sir: Those who would readily lash out at the Rev Al Miller, put yourselves in his position.

The Editor, Sir:It is interesting to hear persons refer to some schools as 'traditional high' schools and others as 'non-performing' high schools.
